LONG TERM HEALTH AND SAFETY STRATEGY 2012 - 2016
Amplus Ltd's strategy over the next five years is to become accident free.
This is not the same as setting ourselves a target accident frequency rate (AFR) of zero.
Instead we must move to a position where all our employees come to work "expecting that there will be no accidents or injuries".
Any level of accident is unacceptable to the business.
In order to deliver this strategy we undertake to:
Operate our business in accordance with sound Health and Safety Management practices according to the principles of OHSAS 18001, Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, in order to safeguard the health and safety of all employees, any contracted or temporarily engaged employees, visitors and members of the public.
Assess the health and safety risks of our operations and, in consultation with employees and other stakeholders, develop continuous improvements in our health and safety performance.
Provide an environment in which our employees can work without detriment to their health and which is safe for the health of third parties.
Create a safety awareness culture by involving all employees in health and safety matters in order to develop positive attitudes and behaviour towards health and safety at all times.
Comply with all applicable legal and other requirements and work to reduce and prevent health problems and accidents.
Charge Top Management with the task of reviewing this policy, our objectives, our targets and performance on a regular basis.
Ensure appropriate training is given to employees to increase competence and raise awareness and appreciation of health and safety issues.
